Themed exhibition “The Foreign Legion”
The 78th edition of Militalia will feature the themed exhibition “The Foreign Legion”.
In the centre of Pavilion C, documents, artefacts and uniforms relating to this military corps of the French Army will be on display, recounting its history and its relationship with Italy.
The Foreign Legion was established by decree of King Louis-Philippe of France on 10 March 1831 to support the French conquest of Algeria, recruiting all foreigners who wished to enlist voluntarily.
The first firefight, fought with great valour at Maison Carrée (now known as El Harrach) earned them the red and green epaulettes of the Grenadiers and the French tricolour.
