Auto Collection

Auto Collection 16-17th March 2024

Car showrooms and car dealers, accessory and automotive traders, publishers and, last but not least, bodies, clubs and associations, are waiting for you for two days under the banner of 4 wheels. The motor show occupies the entire fairground: while inside the pavilions it will be possible to admire gleaming bodies pulled to shine for the occasion, it is in the open-air area that the dynamic ritual of stupendous vintage cars takes place. Optimising the usual mix of collectors' cars and more recently produced, more affordable examples, the fair has over time been able to renew that atmosphere of stimuli and suggestions unquestionably conducive to trade and business. In fact, the event's winning characteristic is that of representing a huge 'shopping centre' of passions. Vehicles for all budgets will be lined up at AUTO COLLECTION, with ample opportunity for information on their restoration entrusted to competent artisan firms or practised directly by new owners. In this latter respect, a very useful aid is provided by the side market, where all kinds of spare parts and accessories of yesteryear are not skimped on.

CMAE: the best Lancias from the ’50s and ’60s

At Auto Collection, as usual, there will be themed exhibitions, and among them will be one and among them will be one on the beautiful Lancias of the ’50s and ’60s curated by CMAE – Club Milanese Automotoveicoli d’epoca (hosted in pavilion C).

The cars on display, which have made the history of the Turin car manufacturer, will be the following:

  • Lancia Fulvia Coupé 1200 (1967)
  • Lancia Fulvia Zagato (1968)
  • Lancia Flavia Coupé 1500 (1962)
  • Lancia Appia Zagato GTZ (1959)

Cinquecentiamo: a spectacular gathering of Cinquecentos!

The Cinquecento is always the Cinquecento!

That’s why Auto Collection will host a gathering of the most iconic Italian four-wheeler ever, organised by Cinquecentiamo in the outdoor area between pavilions A and B.

The Cinquini gathering, in particular, will start between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sunday 17 March and will give space to around 25 vehicles (among which there will also be cars other than the jewel from mamma Fiat).

Ondarossa Museum: Ferrari, Jaguar and Alfa Romeo on exhibition!

The Ondarossa Museum will be present for the first time at Auto Collection and will be exhibiting three incredibly historically significant vehicles and a reproduction in pavilion C:

  • 2005 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti in special ‘Grigio Ingrid’ colouring (a colour dedicated to the actress Ingrid Bergman). An imposing, fascinating and elegant ‘instant classic’, now close to becoming a ‘historic car’.
  • A work of art (scale 1:1) made of steel by Sicilian artist Calogero Sperandeo that reproduces in life-size the Alfa 40-60 HP driven by Enzo Ferrari at the 11th Targa Florio in 1920, in which he came second. This particularly fine and realistic sculpture (steered wheels and steering wheel and engine details made under its own fairing) was entirely handcrafted, with skilful metal welding and sheet metal beating.
  • 1962 Jaguar MK VII, left-hand drive, white, used for the Queen of England’s official visits to Italy. It bears the British Royal Coat of Arms at the front, near the number plate, and is a conservation-restored example.
  • 1976 Alfa Romeo Alfetta 1.6 ‘beech’: a collector’s classic, stunning in its exterior/interior colour scheme.

Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8: a jewel from the ’20s at the fair

This edition of Auto Collection will be an exciting rendezvous with history also thanks to the Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8, one of the most famous luxury four-wheelers ever!

The car, which you will find in pavilion C, is a 1923 Castagna Sport model and was restored by Milanese collector Silvano Cima. After being found in Peru in 1974 and converted into a pick-up truck, it was transferred to London and Milan for refurbishment (mainly of the chassis and engine).

The vehicle also participated in various elegance contests and was exhibited for six months at the entrance to the Italian pavilion at the Shanghai Expo in 2010.

The Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8 was produced in only 1,380 models. It was also the first production car ever to be fitted with an eight-cylinder inline engine and became a competitor to Rolls-Royce.
