Themed exhibition: “Mountain Artillery and Alpine Artillery”

The 77th edition of Militalia will host the themed exhibition “Mountain Artillery and Alpine Artillery”.

In the centre of Pavilion C, documents, artefacts and uniforms relating to this specialised branch of the Italian Army will be on display, tracing all the key stages of its history.

The Italian Army’s Mountain Artillery has been, and remains, a specialised unit designed to operate in inaccessible terrain and high-altitude mountain environments.

Established in 1877 as a specialist support unit for the Alpine Infantry, it has historically been linked to pack-animal transport, distinguishing itself in the First World War and, previously, in Libya. It subsequently evolved into modern mechanised units, now known as Land Artillery.
